All Senior / Social Members and Guests of Northop Cricket Club will where applicable:

  1. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of Cricket.
  2. Treat everyone equally and not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, parental or marital status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference or political belief.
  3. Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed.
  4. Promote the positive aspects of Cricket e.g. fair play.
  5. Encourage all participants to learn the Laws and Rules and play within them, respecting the decisions of match officials.
  6. Place the well-being and safety of Young People above the development of performance.
  7. Ensure that activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual.
  8. Respect Young People’s opinions when making decisions about their participation in Cricket.
  9. Not smoke, drink or use banned substances whilst actively working with Young People in the Club.
  10. Not provide Young People with alcohol when they are under the care of the Club.
  11. Follow ECB guidelines set out in the ‘Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children’ and any other relevant guidelines issued.
  12. Report any concerns in relation to a Young Person, following reporting procedures laid down by the ECB.
  13. Play in accordance with the North Wales Cricket League disciplinary procedures as detailed in the North Wales Cricket League handbook.
  14. Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with match officials.
  15. Refrain from using bad language at any time when representing the club either whilst playing or in the pavilion.
  16. Refrain from throwing any item of equipment when returning to the pavilion or in the changing room having been dismissed.
  17. Not use any form of press coverage or social media i.e. facebook, twitter, to miss represent the club or its members, the opposition team or its members, the league or its officials or any spectators.

In the event of a player / players breaching the above and failing to conform to the principles of sportsmanship, Northop Cricket Club can implement its disciplinary procedures, irrespective of action by the North Wales Cricket League

In addition all Club Officers and Appointed Volunteers will:

  • Always work in an open environment (i.e. avoid private or unobserved situations and encourage an open environment).
  • Inform Players and Parents of the requirements of Cricket.
  • Know and understand the ECB’s ‘Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children’.
