Northop Old Boys - Cricket Club Cycle Challenge

A group of cyclists from Northop CC (better known as Northop Old Boys (NOBs)) completed another big challenge on 16th & 17th June in support of Cancer Research UK.

The NOBs team is Stu Askey, Steve Williams, Kev Blackwell, Rich Cowley, John Atkins, Simon Littler, Graham Lloyd-Roberts, Chris Jones, Trevor Tommy and Mark Sudder.

Joining the ride in parts over the two days was Paul Penrhyn-Jones. On the support team/back up/van was Mike Hughes, Colin Nicholson and Mark Farrell. Andy Taylor-Jones was the team photographer.

The challenge was to ride to all North Wales Cricket League Premiership cricket clubs – a total of 210 miles and 12,000ft of climb over the 2 days.

Day 1: Starting at their home club Northop, they cycled to Pwllheli via Connah’s Quay, Hawarden, Gresford, Brymbo and Chirk - 110 miles and over 7,000ft of climbing.

Day 2: After a well-deserved overnight rest in Pwllheli, they headed back along the North Wales coast to Menai Bridge, Bangor, Llandudno, St. Asaph and Denbigh before arriving back at Northop on the Sunday evening for a well-earned beer!

All sponsorship pledges have been greatly received. Cancer is happening right now, which is why we are fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose!

A grand total of £12,526.81 was raised!
